Yoga is one of the most powerful ways to restore balance, and therefore health, because it brings the five elements of our being into a harmonious relationship with eachother. Each of the five elements represents a state of matter; Earth, Air, Fire, Water and the mother of all elements Space. All of these elements manifest differently within each of us, and are constantly changing according to season, life stage, diet, etc. The Elements Yoga Studio encourages each practitioner to explore different styles of yoga, relative to the elements, to find a practice that manifests balance and harmony from within. Allowing the practice to grow and change as you do.

Erin O’Brien has been studying yoga and meditation since 2000 and teaching since 2003. That journey has included various styles of yoga as well as the joyous experience and gift of practicing under several different yoga teachers.
Her practice began locally at The Yoga Place with Chris Saudek, as well as at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse with Tammy Zee. It was also at UWL where Erin began her study of Philosophy and was introduced to the art of meditation. She has studied yoga with many nationally acclaimed instructors including Seane Corn, Rama Berch, Simon Park, Desiree Rumbaugh, Jason Crandall, Michael Stone and Matthew Sanford. Erin has continued to study under Matthew Sanford and has been certified in levels I & II of his pioneering program Adapting Yoga for Disabilities. She continues to work and study under the teachings of Scott Anderson and Andrea Russell of Alignment Yoga. Erin received her 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training Certificate through Alignment Yoga and will complete her 500 hour Yoga Therapy Certificate through them as well in October 2012. She has also completed the Spectrum Yoga Therapy Training program developed by Scott Anderson specifically for those who are on the Autism Spectrum.
As an instructor, Erin’s passion is bringing Yoga to those whom may not have the greatest access to it or believe that the practice is simply not accessible to them. While Yoga has taken on the image that it is only for the fit, the flexible, and the financially fortunate in our Western culture, it’s the true essence of Yoga, which far surpasses just the physical asana practice, that we find the greatest access to transformation. So many of the disease states which ail our current culture can find profound relief from a mindful and awareness based Yoga practice. It’s the journey back to the body and the breath and continuing to nurture the relationship with the authentic self that allows us to move with compassion and grace through our experience. Erin’s teaching hopes to both inspire and encourage each student to realize the teacher that lies within themselves, as each students path is uniquely theirs to uncover.
